I frequently hear clients express that they struggle to fully communicate their concerns in session. This is often because we feel our experiences, and sometimes words alone can’t completely describe them. What if there was an interactive, alternative, and hands-on way you could communicate those feelings? This is where Sandtray Therapy comes in. Sandtray is a therapeutic tool that allows you to visually express feelings and experiences that sometimes words just aren't enough to capture. Sandtray works with all different types of needs, including depression, anxiety, grief, self esteem, and even processing traumatic experiences. Sandtray is a great way to finally put words to experiences you may not have had the words to describe, and be able to work through them more effectively.
When living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), it often feels like you’re going through every day in survival mode. I want to see you heal from your experience and move from surviving to thriving in life. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral modality for treating PTSD and related problems, such as depression, anxiety, and grief. This is a structured treatment method that can provide relief from your PTSD symptoms in an average of just 12 sessions. During CPT, we look at how your trauma has affected your ways of thinking, how you view your experiences, yourself, others, and the world, and the ways in which these thinking patterns are keeping you “stuck” in your PTSD symptoms. Together, we will help you to get “un-stuck” and start to think differently about your trauma, process through your emotions, and help you to take back your power from PTSD.
Becoming a parent is one of the most joyous experiences in life. But sometimes our expectations for parenthood is very different from the reality of the experience. As a mother myself, I understand just how challenging the adjustment to parenthood is. From conception, to pregnancy, and postpartum, parenthood is often a journey that comes with bumps in the road. I am here to provide you a safe space to process your emotions about the hardships and the joys of parenthood, learn skills to cope and manage stress and the transition, and support you through every twist and turn this experience may bring. I have received my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C), meaning I have advanced training in the unique way that pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood impacts mental health, and how it differs from other mental health conditions. I am able to help you with coping with perinatal depression, anxiety, infant and pregnancy loss, birth trauma, etc. We will work together to meet the unique needs of you and your family so you can thrive in parenthood. It takes a village, and I would be honored to be part of your village.
In addition to the above mentioned specialties, I also have extensive experiences working with individuals with a wide variety of mental health concerns and problem areas. These include depression, anxiety, mood disorders, stress, anger management, trauma, self esteem, emotion regulation, women’s issues, grief and loss, life changes, and more. I utilize various interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), mindfulness, and traditional talk therapy. I utilize a strengths-based approach to working with clients. This means that I believe each person comes with their own strengths and skills that can be used to help create the life you're wanting to live. Together, we will build upon these strengths and learn new skills to help improve your quality of life and achieve your goals.
